Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90-bed facility offering inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents, and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency, and co-occurring disorders treatment through medically supervised detoxification. About the role

Our progressive and dedicated healthcare team is looking for a Registered Nurse, House Supervisor to help provide exceptional care and support our vision of being the best hospital we can be. This fast-paced environment requires critical thinking, teamwork, and excellent communication between staff and patients. The role involves organizing activities and schedules for medical and non-medical tasks across Child, Adolescent, and Adult units during a given shift while supervising clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate sound leadership skills in clinical and leadership situations.
  • Supervise clinical staff working with patients.
  • Display consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills as an exemplary role model.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of Hospital, Nursing, and HR policies/procedures.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions common to acute psychotic and non-violent crises.
  • Apply knowledge of abnormal psychology relevant to child, adolescent, or adult psychiatric populations.
  • Understand medical terminology associated with psychiatric care.
  • Maintain familiarity with psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications.
  • Employ problem-solving, organizational, time management, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate process-oriented and didactic groups.
  • Uphold BBHH’s CARES values system in every act of patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Current California RN License.
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
  • Completion of "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique Training during orientation.
  • Experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or related fields (preferred).

This position operates on an alternate work schedule of 12-hour shifts: 6:00am to 6:30pm or 6:00pm to 6:30am.

Pay

$50.00–$61.38 per hour, based on experience.
