JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arkansas.
- Driver’s License: Valid in the State of Arkansas required.
- Automobile Liability Insurance: Required.
- Experience: Two years patient care nursing experience preferred, with one year in Hospice or community setting.
- Prior Experience: Prior experience in Med/Surgery, Oncology, Home Health, or Hospice desirable.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, patient care procedures, and ability to operate technical equipment acquired through orientation.
- Physical Demands: Driving is part of the job responsibilities. Close eye work, hearing of normal and soft tones, distinguish smells, distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting up to 100 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs. Safety-sensitive position.
JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct nursing care and assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs of the terminally ill patient using the nursing process; sets goals; prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet the physical and psychological needs of the patient and family. Functions independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call-back as required by the hospital. The RN serves as a role model for nursing assistants and students by demonstrating clinical competence and leadership. Promotes good public relations for the unit, the nursing division, and the medical center while maintaining patient confidentiality.
