About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled professional nursing care to terminally ill patients in their place of residence, adhering to the physician's prescriptions and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with professional nursing standards and practices.
  • Understands and applies hospice philosophy, principles of death and dying, and pain management techniques.
  • Exhibits excellent observational, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Utilizes advanced computer skills for accurate documentation in an electronic medical record system.
  • Works independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates physical capabilities to perform tasks such as pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 lbs., standing/walking for extended periods, and performing various physical activities.

Requirements

  • Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice.
  • Must be a licensed driver.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
  • One-year general nursing experience preferred.
  • Recent hospice or long-term care experience.
  • Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
  • Understands Hospice philosophy; principles related to death and dying and pain management.
  • Has excellent observation, good nursing assessment and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to provide good documentation within an electronic medical record and submits in a timely manner.
  • Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligations.

Pay

$10,000 sign-on bonus available.
