RN-Hospice (Exempt)

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled professional nursing care to assigned terminally ill patients in their place of residence, as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the standards of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care to hospice patients in their place of residence.
• Comply with accepted professional standards and practices.
• Apply Hospice philosophy, principles related to death and dying, and pain management.
• Perform accurate nursing assessments and maintain excellent communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Document care thoroughly and timely within an electronic medical record.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while fulfilling role obligations.
• Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
• Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice.
• Must be a licensed driver.
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.

Qualifications

• Recent hospice or long-term care experience (preferred).
• Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement (preferred).
• One-year general nursing experience (preferred).

Skills

• Excellent observation, assessment, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records.
• Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Flexible, cooperative, and able to work within an interdisciplinary team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
