Job Description
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who assists patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health. This role is governed by the Nursing Process, MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
Qualifications
- Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi
- All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
- RNs working in certain specialty areas are required to complete and maintain specific certifications
- A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred
- Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
Experience
A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program.

Physical Demands
- Moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area
- Exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard
- Close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision
- Active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue
- Work schedule may change according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends

- Demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels

- Maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations

- Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
- Possess superior clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
