Registered Nurse (RN) | Full Time | Nights - Nursery

About the Role

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, dedicated to assisting patients in attaining, maintaining, and restoring health. This role operates within the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and SRHS policies. Competency is demonstrated through knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
• Adhere to accreditation standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
• Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
• Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships across SRHS and other organizations.

Requirements

• Graduate from an NLN-accredited School of Nursing.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
• BCLS certification required upon hire and/or transfer.
• Specialty certifications required for specific units (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) within 12–18 months of starting in the role.
• De-escalation training must be completed by the end of orientation (90 days).
• Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program.
• Proficiency in computer use, including MS Outlook and Word.

Physical Demands

• Moderately active work involving frequent movement within the facility and travel to other SRHS locations.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects, including the human body, with negligible exertion.
• Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, with potential infectious disease hazards.
• Repetitive motions, such as typing and operating office equipment.
• Close visual acuity to shift focus between computer monitors and printed materials.
• Ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue.
• Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed.

Mental Demands

• Keen mental faculties for assessment and decision-making.
• Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels and make fine discriminations in sound.
• Emotional stability to manage high-stress situations.
