About the role
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe in Rowlett, TX is a community-based hospital with all the benefits of an urban medical center due to the specialties we offer to the community which is uncommon for this size facility. We have an extremely large footprint of outpatient services in the community including physical medicine, wound care, sleep center, imaging, and two free-standing Emergency Departments.
Lake Pointe is licensed for 176 beds which include three medical surgical units, an intensive care unit, Labor & Delivery, New Family Unit, Antepartum, Neonatal Intensive Care, Surgical Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and Emergency Department. The hospital carries multiple designations including Level III Trauma, Chest Pain Accreditation, Primary Stroke Accreditation, Maternal and Level III NICU.
Nursing is on their journey towards Pathways to Excellence and will seek Magnet designation once they complete Pathways.
Responsibilities
As an RN Float, you are vital in healthcare, coordinating patient care based on our nursing model. You assess patients, plan personalized care, and evaluate responses to health issues. You keep patients safe by understanding their needs and the healthcare setting for smoother transitions.
- Focus on patient and family needs.
- Develop and adjust nursing care plans for desired outcomes.
- Create a safe place for patients, families, and staff.
- Help with emotional and physical pain to aid healing.
- Incorporate the unique perspectives and requirements of patients into your care plans.
- Educate patients, families, staff, and community continuously.
- Evaluate and record learning progress.
- Work with team and community to implement care plan, delegate tasks as needed.
- Solve problems efficiently, utilizing resources effectively and acknowledging their limitations.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited program in nursing
- 1 year of experience in Med Surg nursing is required
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or get it within 30 days of starting
Qualifications
You should have a thorough knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures. It is essential for you to know relevant laws, rules, and regulations, including those for nursing care certifications and accreditations.
- Effective communication skills, both spoken and written
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Good grasp of general computer skills
