Position Highlights
- The pay range for this position is $34.50 - $51.50 per hour. Actual pay rate is dependent upon experience.
- This is a float Flight RN position. You will be working in our 3 bases located in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Pierre, SD.
- May be eligible for a $6000 or $15,000 Sign on Bonus.
Schedule
12 hour shifts: 7:00am-7:30pm and 7:00pm-7:30am & some 24 hour; rotate every 3rd weekend/holiday. You will know your schedule 6 weeks in advance. Your preferences will be taken in consideration for scheduling.
What you will do
- Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions;
- Communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team;
- Coincording with other healthcare providers;
- Providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends;
- Conferring with physicians.
Develops nursing care plans
- Obtaining medical histories;
- Examining patients;
- Documenting patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors;
- Conferring with family and friends;
- Developing a nursing diagnosis;
- Establishing nursing care objectives;
- Defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.
Teaches healthcare requirements
- Establishing patient care goals;
- Instructing patient, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills;
- Answering questions;
- Providing information and resources.
Evaluates patient care
- Adhering to therapeutic standards;
- Masuring health outcomes against patient care standards;
- Reviewing patient records;
- Noteing changing conditions and needs;
- Re-evaluating care objectives;
- Modifying nursing care plan.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment
- Adhering to infection-control policies and protocols;
- Adhering to medication administration and storage procedures;
- Adhering to controlled substance regulations;
- Adhering to organization standards and policies;
- To legal regulations;
- Alerting others regarding potential concerns.
Documents patient care services
- Charting in patient and department records.
Maintains patient care equipment
- Following operating instructions and established procedures;
- Trubleshooting breakdowns;
- Maintaining supplies;
- Performing preventive maintenance;
- Calling for repairs.
Maintains patient care supplies
- Checking stock;
- Anticipating needs;
- Placing and expediting orders;
- Verifying receipt;
- Stocking items.
Maintains competence in nursing capabilities
- All Careflight personnel are responsible for maintaining physical health and proper weight, not to exceed 240 pounds.
Essential Qualifications
- The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
- An active license in the state of practice
- Upon Hire
- Registered Nurse (Single) - Minnesota Board of Nursing within 180 Days
- EMS - North Dakota Health and Human Services North Dakota EMS within 90 Days
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) - Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) within 2 Years
- Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire
- 1-3 years Critical Care experience
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
- Technical Certificate
- Strongly encouraged to complete life-saving education specific to specialty area.
