About the Role

The Registered Nurse is accountable for coordinating care for patients and their families, including direct care, patient and family education, and discharge planning. Following the nursing process—assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating—RNs deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to the ANA Scope of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and specialty standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs by gathering relevant health information and develop individualized care plans to achieve expected outcomes.
• Evaluate patient progress and revise diagnoses, outcomes, and plans of care as needed.
• Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while respecting privacy and treating patients, families, and colleagues with dignity and compassion.
• Perform aseptic techniques, maintain infection prevention standards, and adhere to disinfection, sterilization, and infection control principles.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals, and assist with procedures and patient transportation per hospital policies.
• Participate in creating a learning environment through evidence-based practice, research, and professional development.
• Engage in mentoring, education, and in-service training for peers and students.
• Comply with regulatory and organizational standards for patient care, safety, and documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date certifications and licenses, and complete mandatory training modules.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and report safety incidents promptly.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license.
• BLS certification (Required).
• ACLS certification (Required).
• NIHSS certification (Required within 30 days of hire).
• Understanding of computers and competence in using electronic devices and basic software programs for patient care.

Qualifications

• RNs hired on or after 7/1/2016: Must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years of hire into an RN position.
• RNs hired before 7/1/2016: Encouraged to pursue a BSN degree but not mandated.
