About the role
Provides surgical assistance as a first assistant, supporting surgeons before, during, and after procedures.
Responsibilities
- Position patients for optimal surgical exposure while ensuring comfort and safety.
- Implement physician orders for visualization, tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning, and irrigation.
- Achieve hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
- Assist with wound closure, dressing application, and drainage system securing.
- Apply evidence-based practices tailored to patient age and clinical needs.
- Maintain alertness to ensure safety during procedures.
Qualifications
- Completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards or RNFA equivalency for CRNFA.
- At least two years of RN experience in advanced surgical specialties.
- Valid professional licenses including RN and CNOR certification, with specific licensing depending on the state.
Skills & Physical Requirements
- Excellent communication.
- Constant standing, walking, and frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs., with occasional heavier lifting.
- Visual, auditory, and olfactory awareness are essential.
