About the role
This role provides intra-operative assistance to the surgical team in ambulatory surgery centers, collaborating with surgeons and healthcare professionals to deliver advanced nursing care during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operative assessments and coordinate care plans.
- Offer technical support during surgery, including handling instruments, tissue management, hemostasis, suturing, and maintaining sterile techniques according to standards and protocols.
- Assist with post-operative care, patient transfers, applying splints or braces, and preparing the operating room for turnover.
- Communicate effectively to ensure continuity of care, provide culturally sensitive patient education, and support intra-operative planning.
- Function as an RNFA, supporting various surgical specialties, assisting with room setup, patient positioning, instrumentation, and maintaining a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years' intra-operative scrubbing and circulating experience.
- Recent RNFA experience or completion of a recognized RNFA course.
- Registered Nurse license (Oregon), ACLS, BLS, and Nurse Operating Room Certification.
- Meet AORN RNFA qualification standards; CRNFA certification preferred.
