Geisinger is proud to offer a $21,500 hiring incentive and $7,500 in relocation assistance for eligible candidates. The minimum hiring rate is $41.50, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.
About the Role
This is a full-time position in the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Geisinger's Janet Weis Children's Hospital. The NICU features 41 beds and provides advanced care for newborns and infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, specializing in complex conditions including respiratory, cardiac, genetic, surgical, and neurological disorders.

Responsibilities
- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
- Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (Required).
- Basic Life Support Certification (Required).
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania (Required).
FTE: 0.9 (36 hours per week). Shift: Day/Night rotation (7:00 AM-7:00 PM, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM). Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday. Scheduling is a shared process with block scheduling.
