About The Unit

Our Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center with Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center, busy ER averaging 220 visits per day, 50 exam rooms and 6 trauma bays, and a collaborative environment with ED Providers, Social Workers, and Registration teams. We primarily care for adults, with pediatric cases as needed. Our RNs are proficient in Stroke and STEMI activations and follow established care guidelines.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care using a professional practice model, including patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. You will secure patient travel, know about patient needs in healthcare, help patients and prevent issues, and follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan, delegating tasks carefully and following up promptly

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited RN Program
  • Specialized field of study in nursing
  • RN license
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting in this role
  • 1 Year of Emergency Room RN experience is required

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need a deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures. You should know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area, and understand hospital procedures and rules. You should be proficient in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.

  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email

Schedule

Full-Time Available, 36 hours per week, with schedules of 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM.
