About the role
Transform healthcare in Roanoke, Virginia by joining Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital's Electrophysiology Lab team. This CVT RN opportunity offers primarily day/evening shifts with no weekends or call requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assists physician with direct patient care during catheterization or interventional and device implant procedures in scrub, circulator, and monitor positions.
- Delivers quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to care for adult and geriatric patients.
- Prepares patient and technically advanced equipment for advanced invasive procedures.
- Scrubs and assists physician during procedures.
- Advises and plans with physicians on procedural strategies and supplies.
- Assists in emergent conditions.
- Serves as patient advocate, advising on sedation and pain medication for patient comfort.
- Operates digital x-ray equipment and administers medications under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician.
- Monitors and interprets EKG and hemodynamics during procedures.
- Inputs data from patient history, labs, and current case proceedings including equipment/supplies and documentation for ACC, conscious sedation, pain management, and medication administration.
- Performs basic data manipulation to obtain value areas, shunt calculation, and cardiac outputs.
- Participates as part of procedure team to provide specific patient care functions such as transport, sheath removal, closure site care, etc.
- Participates in providing and assuring informed consent and patient education.
- Contributes to Carilion Clinic's scorecard, performance improvement activities, and mission.
- Maintains appropriate credential to monitor patients receiving sedation/analgesia.
- Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.
- Interprets data reflective of the patients' status, identifies patient requirements, and provides care as described in departmental policies and procedures.
- Exposure may include radiation, infectious diseases, biohazards, and hazardous material, including regulated medical waste.
- Physical requirements include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, prolonged periods of standing, wearing a 15-lb. lead apron during procedures.
- Maintains continual insertion site pressure for a minimum of 30 minutes for hemostatic seal.
- Flexibility in work schedule required.
- Job can be stressful and fast-paced.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
- Experience: Critical care experience preferred.
- Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Must have valid nursing license (RN) in the state of Virginia.
- Lifesupport: Must have and maintain current AHA BLS-HCP certification.
- Must successfully complete AHA ACLS within six months of hire date and maintain current status.
