About the role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the Emergency Services department, consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while modeling a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
• Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and strives to anticipate patient needs, resolving them proactively.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
• Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date)
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
