RN Emergency Part-Time Mid-Shift

Emergency Department Registered Nurse responsible for initial patient assessments, laboratory work, point-of-care testing, and administrative tasks associated with delivering patient care. Collaborates with physicians on discharge plans, educates patients upon discharge, and facilitates transfers for admitted patients.

Responsibilities

• Triages patients in the Emergency Department, prioritizing care based on condition severity.
• Assesses patient condition through visual evaluation, medication reconciliation, and vital sign measurements (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature) throughout their stay.
• Administers medication and assists with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physician.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and communicates effectively with the care team per policies and regulations.
• Partners with the patient care team to provide procedures, interventions, and manage discharge or admission processes.
• Charts patient medical history, contact information, condition, medications, and treatment; updates electronic medical records accurately and consistently.
• Discharges patients post-treatment, providing instructions, education, and confirming transportation.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program (required by hire date).
• Minimum two (2) years of Critical Care experience.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Emergency Department experience.

Qualifications

• American Heart Association certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Registered Nurse license – valid in the state of Indiana upon hire.
• Preferred certifications: CEN, TNCC, NRP.
