RN-Emergency Medicine - Midshift
About the role
We are seeking a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. This role involves effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members, ensuring quality patient outcomes, and maintaining involvement in activities aimed at achieving unit and departmental goals.
Responsibilities
- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Absorbs learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and group or discipline needs.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
Requirements
This job requires proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to various individuals throughout the patient care process are essential. Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to be self-directed are also required. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and adapt behavior to the specific patient population are key.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
- Certification in a clinical specialty area preferred.
