About the Role

Full Time Evenings: 3 x 12 hour shifts per week, 11 am - 11 pm. Sign on Bonus up to $10,000 available. Piedmont Eastside Medical Center - Emergency Dept, Snellville, GA.

  • 38 bed Emergency Department seeing on average 160 patients a day with various acuities.
  • Primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility able to intervene and administer thrombolytics.
  • Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization.
  • 5 PODs in the department; patient assignment based on acuity.
  • Behavioral Health Pod.
  • Close collaboration with Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, Unit Secretaries, and ED Providers.
  • All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
  • Function within the framework of organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintain standards of practice and coordinate patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Perform patient assessments including collection of data regarding physical, psychosocial, and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluate the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education.
  • Organize patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identify additional information needed and make care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and carry out plan of care to achieve them.
  • Provide patient care specific to the setting, identified needs, and plan; ensure care is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment, or disability.
  • Oversee activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identify teaching opportunities and provide resources necessary for achieving educational goals of patients.
  • Communicate issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Document patient care and concerns in the patient record.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing (Required).
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).

Experience

  • No experience required; New Graduates of a nursing program eligible (Required).
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting (Preferred).
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions (Preferred).

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License (Required).
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support (Required).
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable.
