RN – Emergency Department

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the highest honor for professional nursing practice. Work in the Emergency Department (ED), the only Level II Trauma Center on Cleveland’s east side, providing emergency services from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team, ensuring patients receive timely and expert care.

Schedule

A caregiver in this position works nights from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay

Pay range minimum hourly: $35.50. Maximum hourly: $55.60. The actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
