About the Role

The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) in Montgomery, AL is seeking a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible Urologist. The selected physician performs a full range of urologic evaluations and procedures within their scope of practice, limited by facility capabilities. General classes of cases include, but are not limited to:

• Prostate biopsy
• TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate)
• Stenting
• Retrogrades
• Hydrocele repair
• Vasectomy
• TUR (Transurethral Resection)
• Bladder neck/tumor procedures
• Dilatation of strictures
• GU skin lesions
• Circumcisions

The Urologist must remain current on diagnostic and treatment options within their scope of practice and may work off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis as needed.

Schedule

Full Time, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (with weekend on-call rotation).

Pay

Salary Range: Up to $295,000 per year.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must be from a school approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year the course of study was completed. Approved schools include:
  • Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year the degree was granted.
  • Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year the degree was granted.
  • Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board certified or board eligible in Urology by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
• Must meet physical standards established for this position.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants using foreign education must provide a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with their transcript.
