About the role
The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to meet the unique needs of each patient, integrating evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and the preferences and cultural beliefs of patients and their designated care partners.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff in alignment with Jefferson's values.
- Collaborates with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their health and care.
- Minimizes risks by adhering to established nursing practices and protocols, and ensuring patient safety.
- Utilizes information technology for effective communication, knowledge management, and ethical decision-making.
- Maintains continuous quality improvement by monitoring care processes and implementing improvements.
- Fosters teamwork and open communication within nursing and inter-professional teams, promoting patient-centered care.
- Creates inclusive environments and resolves conflicts effectively, respecting patient preferences and cultural backgrounds.
- Serves as a preceptor for staff members, actively participating in hospital and practice setting committees, and seeking opportunities for professional growth.
- Provides feedback and implements changes to enhance practice quality and safety.
Requirements
- Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge of patient-and-family-centered care practices.
- Cultural awareness and effective communication skills.
- Experience in assessing patients' conditions, implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and their designated care partners.
- Understanding of medication administration and prescription knowledge.
- Knowledge of discharge planning and post-discharge care coordination.
- Ability to document health information accurately and efficiently.
- BLS certification from the AHA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within 3 years of hire.
- One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
Skills
Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and cultural sensitivity; effective communication skills; patient assessment and care knowledge; medication administration and prescription knowledge; discharge planning knowledge; assessment and diagnosis knowledge; health information documentation knowledge; and BLS certification from the AHA.
