RN ECMO ICU

About the Role

Join the ECMO ICU at Baylor University Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and be part of an elite team delivering the highest quality care for our ECMO population. This role is ideal for experienced ECMO RNs who are competent in all mechanical circulatory devices, including percutaneous and implantable ventricular assist devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, and ECMO. Our ELSO Platinum Center of Excellence program is dedicated, efficient, and committed to providing world-class extracorporeal care.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 nursing care to ECMO patients receiving VA, VV, VP, VA-V, RVAD, and ECPR therapies.
• Manage patients with disease processes including postcardiotomy syndrome, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, pre/post heart/lung transplant, ARDS, and post cardiac arrest.
• Work within a 10-bed dedicated ECMO unit located inside the CTTICU, with 24/7 coverage by dedicated ICU physicians and ACNPs.
• Participate in multiple research trials and publications as part of a team with a 100% certification rate (CCRN, CSC).
• Engage in ECMO Specialist RN-led transport teams, one of only two such programs in North Texas.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
• Active RN – Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or SICU experience.
• BLS – Basic Life Support (required within 30 days of hire).
• ACLS – American Heart Association certification.
• CCRN – through AACN (required within 6 months of hire).
