Responsibilities

  • Oversee all patient care services provided by the hospice team.
  • Support and advise nursing supervisors to help improve patient care.
  • Assist with patient care planning and evaluation as needed.
  • Help prepare and manage the hospice’s budget.
  • Monitor patient volume to adjust staffing and resources accordingly.
  • Evaluate the performance of nursing supervisors and help them evaluate their teams.
  • Hire, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for clinical staff.
  • Ensure patient records are accurate and meet legal requirements.
  • Manage supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
  • Develop and oversee training programs for new staff.
  • Plan ongoing education and training.
  • Monitor and improve the quality and safety of hospice services.
  • Help set goals and create policies for the organization.
  • Ensure the hospice complies with all laws and certification standards.
  • Keep up with changes in hospice care and share updates with the team.
  • Promote hospice services within the healthcare community.
  • Serve as acting Executive Director when the main director is unavailable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing.
  • Master’s degree in hospice preferred.
  • Three years of management experience in a hospice or related healthcare organization.
  • Registered nurse in the State with current licensure to practice professional nursing.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • Excellent observation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations, and CHAP standards.
