RN Director Acute Care
Primary location: Queen Creek, Arizona – ICU-3N-Hosp, Banner Ironwood Medical Center.
About the role
This position provides strategic leadership and administration in the areas of patient care, education, safety, and quality in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The Director fosters a professional practice environment, develops partnerships with key stakeholders, and oversees clinical operations, financial outcomes, and regulatory compliance. The role is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week day shift.

- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clinical operations and motivates staff to perform at the highest level.
- Leads development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, quality clinical nursing practice consistent with current research and standards.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers, services, and the community in philanthropic and outreach activities.
- Leads the integration of innovation and evidence-based findings into practice.
- Manages quality of services across the care delivery continuum in partnership with physician and facility leaders.
- Directs employees in using a systematic approach to analyze and utilize data in problem-solving.
- Ensures performance in clinical operations, financial, human resources, and quality outcomes meets or exceeds targets.
- Provides oversight to the management of clinical operations, quality and safety programs, and nursing practice with a focus on results.
- Leads effective management of human resources, including staff turnover, retention, and satisfaction.
- Responsible for the strategic development of a clinical department(s) and accountable for clinical outcomes and excellence.
- Coordinates services with other leaders and administrators to achieve goals.
- Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Provides excellent service to all customers by demonstrating core and leader behaviors daily.
Requirements
- BSN or MSN required for all new hires after July 1, 2013; incumbents as of that date must possess BSN or MSN by July 1, 2015.
- Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- BLS certification.
- 3–5 years of progressive care management experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading and/or managing strategic clinical operations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills; ability to lead change.
- Employees in behavioral health clinical settings serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and sign an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit.

About the facility
Banner Ironwood Medical Center serves the southeast communities of metropolitan Phoenix. The facility features a 47-bed tower (expandable to 89 beds), eight LDR rooms, a full-service emergency department, four surgical suites, and medical imaging services. The 80-acre campus allows for future expansion of up to 500 beds and additional health services.
