About the role
The RN Dialysis Apheresis is a professional caregiver responsible for providing care to patients during their dialysis apheresis procedure. This role involves using the nursing process, environment, treatment, and modalities, while also collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Conducts a comprehensive physiological and psychosocial assessment upon admission or upon assuming patient care.
- Completes focused reassessments according to hospital policy.
- Documents intervention implementation, noting exceptions/modifications, and plan of care in the medical record.
- Administers prescribed medications and carries out procedures safely and promptly.
- Maintains infection control practices and ensures the environment of care meets Joint Commission standards.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and reviews/audits processes.
- Communicates effectively with other caregiving staff and uses SBAR format for hand-offs.
- Educates patients and caregivers on the plan of care, hospital policies, and HAC and infection control practices.
- Identifies patient-specific needs and collaborates with the healthcare team to develop an individualized plan for desired patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- RN License and BLS certification.
- Basic nursing skills, proficient communication, interpersonal skills, time management, and organizational skills.
- Astute observational and assessment skills, proper body mechanics, knowledge of hospital computer systems, and ability to operate infusion pumps, Dinamaps, and fax machines.
