About The Unit
This is a 7-bay hemodialysis inpatient unit staffed with RN’s and hemodialysis technicians. These team members care for the acute renal failure patient as well as chronic patients with end stage renal disease. Treatments may be given within the hemodialysis unit as well as within the critical care and medical units at bedside. The group possesses many years of dialysis experience. Teamwork is the core of our foundation.

Scope of Work
Nurses, under the ANA scope of practice, utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies and procedures. Nurses apply the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other. Nurses partner with and utilize patient/family input and goals in planning a plan of care. Nurses demonstrate knowledge of and competently perform technical procedures and use equipment properly. Nurses document in the patient record in a timely, accurate and concise manner. Nurses develop teaching strategies for patient/family; document education and learning appropriately in health record.
Qualifications
Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years
External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience.
External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required
Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
MICertified Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire
Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
