About the role

Join Baylor The Heart Hospital Dallas as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. The OR is a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment serving vascular surgery and minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery patients. The leadership team fosters learning, mentoring, and career advancement, and you will work with world‑renowned surgeons while using RN scrubbers and participating in the latest innovations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred; >95 % of RNs hold a BSN)
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain BLS within 30 days of hire
• Minimum 1 year of OR RN experience (2 years preferred); experience scrubbing in cardiac or vascular OR highly preferred
• Experience with high‑acuity cases and ability to work 1 RN + 1 tech per case (2 RNs + 1 tech for high‑acuity cases)
• Strong commitment to patient safety and evidence‑based practice

Pay

• Seasonal rate: $51 per hour
• Shift differentials (stackable):
  • $3.50 for evening shifts
  • $5.00 for night shifts
  • $6.00 for weekend shifts
• $1,500 completion bonus for meeting minimum productive time

Schedule

• Full‑time seasonal contract: three 12‑hour shifts per week (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) for a 13‑week assignment
• Orientation: first week, Monday‑Friday
• Call requirements: one weeknight each week, one weekend every sixth weekend, and one holiday per year
• Rotating weekends; weekend shift hours are the same as regular full‑time shifts

Department specifics

• Patient population: Vascular surgery and minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery
• Patient ratios: 1 RN + 1 tech per case; 2 RNs + 1 tech for high‑acuity cases
• Number of ORs: 4
• >95 % of RNs have a BSN; 60 % are specialty certified
