About the role

The Allegheny General CTSICU is a 24-bed unit with single occupancy rooms, providing post-surgical ICU care to cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and transplant patients. Nurses are trained to scrub and circulate on the floor, as well as provide support and treatment to patients with mechanical circulatory devices such as VAD, ECMO, Impella, and balloon pumps. The unit is recognized as a Platinum Level ECMO Center of Excellence and holds the Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification (C4).

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
  • Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
  • Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in good standing.
  • PA license in good standing.
  • One (1) year general nursing experience required.
  • One (1) year on specific unit preferred.

Qualifications

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • CPR – American Heart Association.
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Weekend shifts 48 hours every two weeks, scheduled between 11am Friday and 7am Monday, per policy. Orientation may require full-time work for a concentrated period of time, and rotation with rotating weekends and holidays per policy.
