About the role

The CTICU is an 8-bed intensive care unit specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular interventions, and vascular surgery. It sees new procedures and admits up to 250 open heart surgery patients annually. Common devices used include IABP, Impella, EKOs, transvenous pacemakers, and Swan-Ganz catheters. Supported by Dr. El-Khatib, 24/7 intensivists, and a team of interventional cardiologists, the unit prioritizes patient-centered care and a multidisciplinary approach.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in a professional practice setting.

• Ensures a safe environment and monitors patient conditions.

• Participates in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care and health services.
• Promotes patient safety initiatives and participates in department-specific quality initiatives.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned LPN scope of practice as needed.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient care plan.
• Analyzes patient health status and compares it to norms.
• Notifies physicians and supervisors about changes in patient condition and intervenes appropriately.
• Evaluates patient and family satisfaction and resolves concerns.
• Manages time effectively to complete assigned duties within work shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Current State of PA RN license or current multi-state license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification.
