About the role

The 5th Floor Complex Medicine Unit is a recently reopened 12-bed telemetry unit caring for adult medical-surgical patients with multiple comorbidities. This role offers a fresh, energized environment where your voice and ideas matter, with frequent opportunities to sharpen assessment skills, recognize subtle changes, and strengthen clinical judgment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. Daily plan-of-care visits with the attending provider promote clear communication, shared goals, and a connected experience for patients and families. This position is a strong launching point for future goals, such as travel nursing or moving into specialty practice (ICU, ED, or other focused areas), as you will build broad, transferable med-surg and telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
  • Interact directly with patients, families, and visitors to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
  • One-year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting (will consider licensed military RN experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Rotating day/night shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement savings account contributions).
