RN – Complex Med/Surg

About the role

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is a proud Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The 5th Floor General Medicine/Geriatric Medicine Unit is a 59-bed unit that supports adults and geriatric patients receiving medical, neurological and telemetry attention. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care
• Implement and monitor patient care plans
• Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions
• Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs
• Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work

Schedule

Days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $35.50 – Maximum hourly: $55.60. Actual compensation determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education.
