About the role

The AGH Ortho Unit is a 44-bed unit specializing in orthopedic and trauma care, including joint replacements, spinal and cervical fusions, and higher acuity neuro cases such as necks and backs. AGH is a Level I Shock Trauma Center with five state-of-the-art ICUs and a state-of-the-art cancer center. AHN, a nine-hospital system part of Highmark Health, focuses on providing high-quality services to patients and communities while promoting inclusivity and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, monitors, and collects data related to quality and satisfaction measures.
  • Serves as the clinical expert and role model for staff.
  • Mentors and evaluates staff performance, addressing issues as necessary.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership through communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhances professional relationships and achieves desired outcomes.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to plan and coordinate patient care for the age-appropriate population.
  • Affirms appropriate staffing levels and mix to optimize operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or relevant experience.
  • Required: Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate, Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate, CPR – American Heart Association, current State of PA RN license, or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Prioritization: BSN preferred, 3 years’ experience in clinical specialty, and previous supervisory experience are preferred.

Schedule

The schedule is 72 hours every two weeks with rotation according to guidelines.
