RN Clinical Quality Specialist

About the role

Under the general direction of the Performance Improvement/Risk Management Coordinator, the Clinical Quality Specialist is responsible for clinical quality monitoring and reporting to internal and external audiences. A primary function involves reviewing patient medical records for the purpose of monitoring the quality of patient care provided at Stoughton Hospital, including recording data from patient records needed for review of specific treatment patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the functions and reporting from the Medical Care Evaluation (medical staff peer review) Committee
  • Performs chart reviews, writes peer review case descriptions, committee documentation, and follow-up work
  • Contributes data to the Stoughton Hospital Medical Staff Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) by gathering and tracking practitioner outcomes reviewed by the MCE committee and reporting periodically or as needed
  • Supports the PI Coordinator as the hospital's liaison to our accreditation agency for communications, survey preparation, coordination of the survey team on-site, post-survey evidence of standards compliance, and measurement of success in information and data, and use of the website tools
  • Serves as a standing member of the hospital's Performance Improvement Council, Inpatient Leadership Team, Emergency Management, Infection Prevention, Environment of Care, Patient Safety Committee, and the Rural Wisconsin Healthcare Cooperative (RWHC) Roundtable
  • Stays current on clinical quality and best practice initiatives and supports clinical quality teams

Qualifications

  • Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in the applicable field of study
  • Preferred Education: Master's Degree in an applicable field of study or achievement of Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality
  • Professional Experience: Three years' experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Current R.N. license in the State of Wisconsin
  • Basic Computer Competency skills are expected for this position
  • Microsoft Office Suite Skills at Intermediate level: able to perform fairly detailed formatting, create Word and Excel files, write formulas, and prepare charts for reports

Schedule

  • Full-Time, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week
  • Work Days: Monday through Friday
  • Scheduled Shift: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. OR 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Work environment

This position requires on-site work during the first six months to support training, relationship-building, and successful onboarding. Following this period, employees may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
