About the Role

Full time, 40 hours per week; no weekends or holidays required. This position qualifies for our RN Commitment Incentive Program and relocation assistance based on distance.

Responsibilities

  • Education: Identifies and meets learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers and their developmental level.
  • Evaluation of Care: Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in interdisciplinary team discussions to evaluate patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Implementation: Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects. Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Organizes and prioritizes care. Consults with appropriate resources for complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, or high-risk discharge planning.
  • Leadership: Develops professional growth goals with assistance. Achieves goals within identified time frames. Promotes intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in unit goals and performance improvement activities. Uses communication systems effectively. Promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to co-workers. Stays aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare. Promotes a safe and secure hospital environment.
  • Patient Assessment: Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs. Develops relationships with families to promote advocacy for the patient and their needs.
  • Planning: Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. Uses multidisciplinary resources in planning. Addresses cultural and ethnic issues. Prioritizes tasks for patients with complex problems.
  • Research: Reads journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice. Brings ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • If hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience.

Pay

$34.22 - $48.38 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.

Schedule

  • Full time, 40 hours per week.
  • Day shift.
  • Onsite in Chapel Hill, NC.
  • No weekends or holidays required.
