About the role
Our RN II-Imaging team member is a competent nurse who manages a wide range of nursing situations effectively. This nurse has gained the knowledge and skills to predict immediate likely events and changing patient needs. The RN II is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, functioning independently but consulting other healthcare team members when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provides care with minimal guidance.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
- Prioritizes and provides direct, professional nursing care to patients.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
- Ensures safe operation of equipment.
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments.
- Administers medications using the electronic health record and scanning process.
- Documents, monitors, and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
- Provides patient education of illness/disease and promotes health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other team members.
- Performs head-to-toe assessments and reassessments on all age groups.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides explanation and verbal reassurance.
- Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care for each patient.
- Assumes the role of patient advocate.
- Complies with protocols, procedures, and policies.
- Documents all nursing care data concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner.
- Communicates appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families, and physicians.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful and emergency situations.
- Exhibits professionalism at all times, showing respect and dignity to all.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource and mentor.
- Participates in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.
- Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (e.g., flu shot).
Requirements
- Previous Imaging or Outpatient Nursing experience preferred.
- Current RN license to practice in NC.
- Current BLS within 1 month of hire.
- ACLS certification within orientation period.
- PALS certification within orientation period.
