The RN Clinical Educator demonstrates expertise in a specialty area, through the provision of education and support, to guide quality patient care, professional growth, and competence of the nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Implement an assessment process to determine learning needs;
- Utilize strategies that incorporate principles of adult learning to strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving abilities of the learner;
- Create and oversee the implementation of educational activities including in-services, competencies, orientation, and continuing education materials;
- Evaluate outcomes of learning, identifying strategies for modification as appropriate;
- Support lifelong learning by advising/mentoring nurses and nursing students as they pursue education and professional nursing advancement;
- Incorporate evidence-based learning into educational activities and practice;
- Facilitate optimal patient outcomes through education and consultation at the bedside;
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and other health team members when responding to clinical practice issues;
- Participate in new product evaluation; recommend and evaluate new products designed to improve patient outcomes;
- Use effective communication skills, supporting departmental and organizational goals and influencing change processes;
- Demonstrate leadership on a professional level, maintaining appropriate competencies and involvement in activities internal and external to the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;
- Must be continuously enrolled in a master’s degree in nursing, with a focus in education preferred, program and must obtain degree within five (5) years of appointment in role;
- Current license in the State of New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse required;
- Certification in area of specialty required within twenty-four (24) months from date of hire;
- A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience with a specialty focus on Oncology;
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
