RN Clinical Educator

About the role

The RN - Advanced Clinical Educator has demonstrated a commitment to higher education and is responsible for developing staff throughout Baptist Health by providing expertise as an Educator, Consultant, Facilitator, Change Agent, Leader, and Researcher. The Educator supports the development of new and current staff, fostering empowerment and knowledge through evidence-based practice, relationship-based care, SMART principles, and principles of adult learning.

This individual will utilize the Benner Model to move staff through the continuum from novice to expert by facilitating the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competency, continuing education, and leadership development. The Educator will also serve as a role model of professional behavior. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support new and current staff through evidence-based educational practices.
• Facilitate the educational process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competency and continuing education.
• Apply the Benner Model to guide staff development from novice to expert.
• Serve as a role model of professional behavior.
• Perform additional duties within the scope of the role as assigned.

Requirements

• Active RN license required.
• BLS certification required; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, service line specific, etc.) may be required depending on the assigned area.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in the area served (Critical Care, Med/Surg, Women's Services, Peds, or ED).

Qualifications

• MSN required with demonstrated evidence of experience in teaching/education of at least 2 years in the clinical or academic setting.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop curriculum and teach in a classroom setting.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Position requires sitting for 70% of the workday and mobility 30% of the workday.
• Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action.
• Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds; pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
• Continuous need for clear speaking and hearing sensitivity in conversations (phone or in-person).
• Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
• Inside work protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
• Minimal noise levels; much exposure to computer work.
• Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
• Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
• Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to radiation.
