Penrose Hospital is part of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs. Established in 1890, Penrose Hospital specializes in cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care, and physical rehabilitation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement) required. BSN, preferred.
  • Licensure: RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required. Nursing Specialty Certification, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.

Day to Day

  • Maintain the day-to-day efficiencies of the unit.
  • Schedule the next day’s assignments.
  • Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
  • Hold staff accountable to policy and high standard of practice.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of educational programs/practices for department associates.
  • Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager and Director.
  • Act as liaison between surgeons and staff.
  • Aid in training staff and evaluating competency.
  • Oversee supplies and instruments necessary for service line.
  • Aid in staffing.
  • Will also be used on occasion to help out in the rest of the unit.

Schedule

  • 40hrs/wk- variable schedule per volume and unit needs- usually 8hr or 9hr shifts- TBD during interview with unit manager.
  • Call required-one 24-hour shift and one 12-hour shift every 4–6 weeks, plus one Friday every 4-6 weeks.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
