Penrose Hospital is part of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs. Established in 1890, Penrose Hospital specializes in cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care, and physical rehabilitation.
Qualifications
- Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement) required. BSN, preferred.
- Licensure: RN License to practice in state of employment as applicable, required. Nursing Specialty Certification, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
Day to Day
- Maintain the day-to-day efficiencies of the unit.
- Schedule the next day’s assignments.
- Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
- Hold staff accountable to policy and high standard of practice.
- Aid in the development and implementation of educational programs/practices for department associates.
- Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager and Director.
- Act as liaison between surgeons and staff.
- Aid in training staff and evaluating competency.
- Oversee supplies and instruments necessary for service line.
- Aid in staffing.
- Will also be used on occasion to help out in the rest of the unit.
Schedule
- 40hrs/wk- variable schedule per volume and unit needs- usually 8hr or 9hr shifts- TBD during interview with unit manager.
- Call required-one 24-hour shift and one 12-hour shift every 4–6 weeks, plus one Friday every 4-6 weeks.
Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
