Essential Responsibilities
- Explores creative and innovative teaching and learning strategies on the clinical unit, providing quality instruction to groups of students and individuals as needed.
- Provides for daily goals and a plan of care for patients.
- Documents the students’ progress and sets goals and timelines with didactic faculty leaders for the accomplishments of the course objectives.
- Supports continuous learning and commitment to lifelong learning in the clinical area by sharing research, materials from professional organizations, presenting on the unit, and teaching students.
- Maintains a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of the intervention, and predictability of the outcome.
- Promotes patient safety initiatives (e.g., National Patient Safety Goals).
- Participates in department-specific quality initiatives (e.g., Evidence-Based Practice population-specific).
- Affirms appropriate order sets are used.
- Participates on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
- Accepts mistakes of self and others, fostering a culture where risk-taking is safe and expected.
Qualifications
- Minimum Master’s degree in nursing OR obtain within 5 years of hire.
- 2 years of experience in clinical area of direct responsibility may be required depending on specialty.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
