RN: Clinic Nurse – Children's Specialty Center Cardiology - Days

MU Health Care is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team in the Children's Specialty Center Cardiology department at the Physicians Medical Building – 1020 Hitt Street, Columbia, MO 65212. This is an on-site position with a schedule of Monday through Friday days, with no weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals, including physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs, as well as discharge planning.
• Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-reported symptoms of pain promptly using appropriate tools (e.g., 0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or FLACC).
• Demonstrate an understanding of medications, including their actions and side effects, and report pertinent information to the appropriate individual.
• Educate patients and significant others about their medications.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
• Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and department.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
• Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (e.g., physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
• Provide quality care to patients and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
• Complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Requirements

• Active Missouri Board of Nursing RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN license. If the primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Preferred Qualifications

• Participation in a professional nursing organization.

Pay

Base pay range: $29.77 - $43.93 per hour, based on experience.

Physical Demands

• This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
• Routine exposure to patients who may have contagious illnesses.
• Work in a 24/7 healthcare facility, including rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather.
