RN Charge Nurse - Operating Room

- Monday-Friday, typically 8-hour shifts

About the Team
Our 10-room surgical suite supports a wide range of specialties with 17 surgeons utilizing block time. Nurses have the opportunity to circulate and assist in procedures across: Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, Spine, and Pulmonary. We utilize advanced technology, including Mako and da Vinci robotic systems. Many nurses on the unit have 15+ years of experience, offering mentorship and hands-on training. Our strong multidisciplinary teamwork supports a shared goal of delivering safe, high-quality, compassionate care close to home.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift
- Determines staffing levels and assignments based on availability, abilities, census, acuity, and workflow
- Provides direct patient care as needed and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
- Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving
- Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes
- Responds to patient care complaints and manages them through established channels
- Performs role-specific duties including entering orders, performing admissions/discharges, and coordinating transfers
- Ensures staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and protocols
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education

Requirements
- Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
- Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
- Four or more years OR RN experience
- OR leadership experience
