Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Unit Director, delivers care to acutely ill patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation utilizing evidence-based practice. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Follows the Q.A. plan and completes all aspects of data collection, trending, evaluation, and reporting.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
• Current hospital experience (within the past five years) or a new nursing graduate (within the past two years). Nurses who do not meet this requirement must show proof of successful graduation from an approved refresher course.
• Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Minimum of one year’s experience in pertinent clinical specialty preferred. Nurses who do not meet this requirement must obtain experience through competency-based orientation (CBO).
• Service orientation.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in areas of charge being sought; previous management experience preferred.
• Currently certified in CPR (and recertified bi-annually).
