RN Charge Nurse

Position Overview

The Charge Nurse (CN) is responsible for supervising and coordinating patient care duties of professional and non-professional nursing staff on all units during the assigned shift (i.e., evenings, nights, and holidays). The CN serves as a house-wide resource for other staff during the shift to resolve problems and address critical issues.

Position Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing
• Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing
• Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
• Current Wisconsin RN license in good standing
• Current BLS certification at hire
• Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of hire
• Current PALS certification within 6 months
• FEMA HICS 100, 200, and 700 certification
• Non-violent crisis intervention or workplace violence training every two years on a rolling calendar

Special Requirements

• Basic Computer Skills expected for this position
• Access email, reference internal websites, access electronic health records, and use online learning tools to remain current with continuing education requirements
• Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills – able to perform fairly detailed formatting, create Word and Excel files, write formulas, and prepare charts for reports
