Position Overview
The Charge Nurse (CN) is responsible for supervising and coordinating patient care duties of professional and non-professional nursing staff on all units during the assigned shift (i.e., evenings, nights, and holidays). The CN serves as a house-wide resource for other staff during the shift to resolve problems and address critical issues.
Position Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing
- Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current Wisconsin RN license in good standing
- Current BLS certification at hire
- Current ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of hire
- Current PALS certification within 6 months
- FEMA HICS 100, 200, and 700 certification
- Non-violent crisis intervention or workplace violence training every two years on a rolling calendar
Special Requirements
- Basic Computer Skills expected for this position
- Access email, reference internal websites, access electronic health records, and use online learning tools to remain current with continuing education requirements
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills – able to perform fairly detailed formatting, create Word and Excel files, write formulas, and prepare charts for reports
