About the role
Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work. Assists in coordinating semi-annual disaster drills. Oversees departmental quality data and inputs information accordingly. Plays a primary role in Chest Pain and Stroke accreditation.
Responsibilities
- Directs, organizes, and assigns work to licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their assigned shift.
- Uses independent judgment to ensure optimal delivery of patient care and appropriate use of available resources.
- Assists in Chest Pain and Stroke accreditation.
- Serves as a primary resource for patient education and care coordination.
- Coordinates semi-annual disaster drills.
- Oversees departmental quality data and inputs information accordingly.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of clinical experience, Charge Nurse experience preferred.
- Licensure as a registered nurse.
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, other departments within the facility, and outside agencies.
Qualifications
- Specialty certification recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in the applicable area of practice.
