About the Role

Under the supervision of the director or designee, the registered nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to identified needs. The registered nurse assumes accountability for the care of Cardiac Cath Lab patients. All functions will be performed in accordance with standards, practice acts, and licensure in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization. The employee will recognize the population-specific needs of CAD, CHF, PVD, MI, UA, and Angina patients and apply the appropriate knowledge, skills, and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient care activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease-specific protocols.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
• Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance, and incorporate patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
• Supervise invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures to ensure adherence to aseptic and sterile technique.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing required.
• Current RN license by the State of Texas or from a compact state if you declare the compact state your primary state of residence required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Current Specialty certification preferred.
• BSN degree or enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of hire.
• 2+ years of experience in an acute care setting.
• 1-2 years ICU/CCU critical care experience.
• Ability to read EKG monitors and arrhythmias.

About the Facility

Medical City Fort Worth is a 350+ bed full-service Magnet Designated hospital located in the heart of the medical district. It serves as a tertiary referral center for Tarrant County and many counties within a 90-mile radius. Specialties include cardiac care, neurosciences, oncology, surgical services, orthopedics, kidney transplants, and emergency care. The hospital offers three ER locations, including two off-campus ERs in Burleson and White Settlement. Medical City Fort Worth is a designated comprehensive stroke center and a Joint Commission chest pain center.
