Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
• BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum of 3 years prior inpatient RN care manager experience in an acute care hospital, or a minimum of 3 years of inpatient RN experience in the acute care hospital setting, or a minimum of 3 years combined inpatient RN care manager and inpatient RN experience in the acute care hospital setting, within the last 7 years. ADN RN must have a minimum of 3 years acute care manager experience.
• Demonstrated utilization review/discharge planning experience.
• Effective interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, leadership ability, and conflict management and resolution.
• Thrives and excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and committed to professional growth and ongoing departmental performance improvement.
• Demonstrated understanding of patient flow, and transitions to post-acute care and community based services.
• Proficiency in information systems, databases, and programs including MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, etc.
• Must have fast and accurate typing, data entry skills and proficiency with detailed written communication appropriate for electronic medical records.

Prior Experience

• BSN/MSN preferred.
• ACM and/or CCM certificate preferred.
• Three to five (3 - 5) years clinical RN experience or RN care management experience in an acute care setting. Med/Surg, progressive care, or ED clinical RN experience preferred.
• UCSD RN experience or RN experience in another academic medical center preferred.
• Previous supervisory/management experience preferred.
• RN experience in a post-acute care facility or home health agency preferred.
• Facile with Epic, ECIN (Allscripts) and/or Utilization Review / InterQual preferred.
• Knowledge of local payers and coverage, reimbursement, and evidence-based clinical nursing practice preferred.
