About the Role

Join a collaborative team at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend, a 36-bed inpatient Cardiology unit within a 350-bed acute care medical center with a Level II trauma center. This part-time position is located in Springfield, Oregon, offering a unique blend of professional opportunity and outdoor adventure.

Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is situated along the McKenzie River, just an hour from the Pacific Ocean and two hours south of Portland. The area provides year-round outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting, kayaking, cycling, and access to cultural and educational opportunities at the University of Oregon.

Schedule

0.75 FTE, working five 12-hour shifts every two weeks from 1900-0730.

Pay

Wage range of $50.78 - $79.78 per hour, dependent on RN work experience and terms of the Oregon Nurses Association Union Contract. Additional pay incentives include:

  • $2/hour for BSN & MSN degrees
  • $2/hour for Specialty Nursing Certification
  • Weekend differential of $2/hour
  • Shift differential up to $9.50/hour

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in the development of and maintain established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection prevention programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (Required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
  • One year of RN experience (Required).
  • One year of previous cardiac nursing experience (Preferred).
  • Oregon State RN license (Required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Required upon hire).

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and a patient/family-centered work environment.
  • Ability to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy, and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting and patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA).
  • Frequent movement around the unit, with frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
