RN Cardiac Stepdown

About the Unit
5 South is a cardiac stepdown or telemetry unit with 32 beds: 28 semi-private rooms and 4 private rooms. Each patient has a telemetry monitor that they are required to wear at all times while on the unit. The unit thrives on teamwork, kindness, and respect from all team members and includes the family in patient care and decision making.

Responsibilities
The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. Responsibilities include:
- Providing quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures
- Recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes
- Partnering with and utilizing patient/family input and goals in planning care
- Developing teaching strategies for patient/family and documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record
Requirements
- Associate’s in Nursing (Required)
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke (Required upon hire)
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required within 6 months)
- Specialty Certification (highly recommended within 2 years)
