About the role

Responsibilities
- Takes call on a rotating basis and performs emergency procedures under physician supervision, including ACLS protocol and defibrillation.
- Collects, evaluates, and assists in the PI program, demonstrating progress towards benchmarks.
- Provides Phase I cardiac education for inpatients referred to Cardiopulmonary Wellness Services and assists in Phase II and Phase III Cardiopulmonary Wellness, including initial evaluation and concurrent sessions.
- Performs medication reconciliation for outpatients by reviewing home medications with patients before administering sedatives.
- Maintains awareness of and communicates electrocardiographic/hemodynamic changes to physicians and appropriate staff throughout procedures and pre/post care.
- Performs general noninvasive cardiology procedures such as stress tests, EKGs, tilt table exams, and holter scanning.
- Performs and documents accurate initial assessments per unit standards, including initial observation, obtaining and interpreting information, and reporting appropriate information to physicians or supervisors.
- Monitors, recognizes, and communicates abnormal lab tests to physicians, and obtains appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrates critical-thinking skills when analyzing basic and advanced cardiac rhythms safely, competently, and independently.
- Assists radiologists, cardiologists, or attending physicians in performing sterile procedures, including prepping and draping patients, scrubbing, and circulating during invasive procedures.
- Adheres to approved standards of sterile/aseptic technique, utilizing equipment and supplies safely and prudently.
Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
- Prioritization of multiple often-conflicting patient care responsibilities is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
- Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods specific to Diagnostic Lab.
- Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field, with emphasis on Cardiac and Interventional Radiological procedures.
- Must be able to work closely with co-workers and medical staff in a team environment.
- Must be able to maneuver quickly in response to emergencies.
Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
- Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
- Certified Sedation Registered Nurse (CSRN) [Preferred]
Skills
- Reads, writes, and comprehends the English language extensively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
- Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods specific to Diagnostic Lab.
- Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field, with emphasis on Cardiac and Interventional Radiological procedures.
- Ability to prioritize multiple often-conflicting patient care responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment in both routine and critical situations.
- Ability to analyze basic and advanced cardiac rhythms safely, competently, and independently.
- Ability to prepare patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries ordered.
- Ability to monitor, recognize, and communicate abnormal lab tests to physicians, and obtain appropriate interventions.
- Ability to assist radiologists, cardiologists, or attending physicians in performing sterile procedures, including prepping and draping patients, scrubbing, and circulating during invasive procedures.
