RN Cardiac Progressive Care
About the unit: CPCU is a 28-bed progressive-care unit that primarily serves cardiac patients. The unit has 16 private rooms, 2 semi-private in-patient rooms, and 4 semi-private outpatient rooms. It is the only unit of its kind that cares for post-op open-heart, Tikosyn, and post-cardiac-intervention patients, where the RN removes femoral lines and manages radial bands.

Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to provide professional nursing care incorporating patient-family centered care principles.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.
- Recognize the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.
- Partner with and utilize patient/family input and goals in planning care.
- Develop teaching strategies for patient/family and document education appropriately in the health record.
Requirements
- Associate’s in Nursing (Required).
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years).
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke (Required upon hire).
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required within 6 months).
- Specialty Certification (highly recommended within 2 years).

Schedule
- Shift: Night (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.).
- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 36.
- Days Worked: Variable; self-schedule.
- Weekend Frequency: Every third weekend.
